Hexagon Circle Wall Hanging KIT

Hexagon Circle Wall Hanging KIT

on Dec 1, 2013 in Blog, Books, Hexagons Made Easy, Kits, Shop | 0 comments

I’ve been hard at work building kits for you!  The kits support the Hexagon Circle Wall Hanging project on page 42 of Hexagons Made Easy.  The kit is versatile and priced right.  (Art Gallery Fabrics Poetica line, Kit Fabrics pictured above) Here’s the original quilt project from the book: The kit provides you with enough fabric to make this wall hanging design for only $18 + shipping. The kit includes a little over 3 yards of fabric cut into: Background (1 yard) Backing (1 yard) Binding (1/2 yard) 28 Hexagons (Used as facings and focus fabric to make up to 14 hexagons.) After I got the plan together and taught the class with the kit, it occurred to me that you will have enough fabric to make a couple varieties of projects using the Hexagons Made Easy technique.  In fact, if you added a small amount of your own facing fabric, you could have 28 printed hexagons for applique’ing onto any quilted idea you conjure up.  (See below.) Speaking of options, you can use the 1 yard of blue OR 1 yard of purple as the background fabric.  It is totally up to you! The Art Gallery Fabrics line all blend so nicely together.  (See the table runner in the picture above?  Simply use the provided 1/2 yard of binding stripe as your background to create the runner.)  Maybe it is too many options.  Maybe it is a kit with wiggle room. Don’t have the book?  Don’t worry, you can combine the kit and book for a Bundle Deal.  See the drop down options when you add to cart.  Signed book + Kit only $37.00 + shipping.   Tell a...

Modern Baby by Martingale Press

Modern Baby by Martingale Press

on Apr 26, 2013 in Blog, blogging others, book, Books | 50 comments

Welcome to the Modern Baby Blog Tour! Modern Baby Shower Modern Baby is HERE!  I was invited to join this collaborative book project, published by Martingale Press.   It is a really unique group of 14 baby quilts by various designers.  Here, let me get you the description: From Martingale Press: “In this amazingly diverse collection, a bevy of talented quilting bloggers present appealing baby-quilt designs for sewists and quilters of all skill levels. Designers include Amy Smart, Audrie Bidwell, Carolyn Friedlander, Carrie Bloomston, Dana Bolyard, Jake Finch, Jen Eskridge, Lindsey Rhodes, Melissa Corry, Pippa Eccles Armbrester, Sarah Flynn, Shea Henderson, and Victoria Findlay Wolfe. Showcase bright, bold solids and modern fabrics–perfect for stimulating Baby’s senses Choose from 14 small quilts that can be easily completed in time for the baby shower Rely on clear instructions and illustrations for each inviting design The invitation was wide open and I got to thinking… I’d like my project to have hexagons on it, and I’d like my project to be quick and easy.  The Fractured Hexagons Baby quilt came to mind: You’ve seen this quilt before on the blog, a short while back, January 2011.  It was a gift for my niece.  Shortly after I posted it, it became one of the first quilts ever put up on Modern Day Quilts tumblr.  {Thanks Heather!}  I decided this quilt needed a pattern and thankfully, Martingale thought so too. The red quilt features Nicey Jane fabrics by Heather Bailey and Free Spirit Fabrics. I set out asking my Sister-in-Law and niece if I could get the quilt back.  (((… best gift-giver evah …)))  But I just need to borrow the quilt, not keep it and actually take it back.  Thankfully she didn’t mind. I made a second one in blue.  The blue quilt features Tokyo Rococo by Carol Van Zandt and Andover Fabrics. I gave both the blue and red quilts back to my nieces, so hopefully that will make up for the “steal back”. Many modern quilters like to use solids in their quilt designs.  I’m a huge fan, but I do also like mixing the prints with the solids.  I think it helps ground the prints a bit.  What do you think?...

Simply Solids BOOK

Simply Solids BOOK

on Nov 19, 2012 in Blog, blogging others, book, Books, Shop | 2 comments

I am always dancing these days! Happy Dancing around the house when I see something of mine in print. Wahoooo! Today, I get to share with you a project I did, which was selected for the Simply Solids Book. The book is a collection of 12 different project by different designers, all using solid fabrics. Click this link, and it should take you to a project preview window.  It is quite interesting, when you see the whole book- it isn’t an “all modern book” so that’s cool.  I think my project is more contemporary traditional, than modern.  (I totally just learned that “label” at the October SAMQG meeting.) And a big huge thank you to my machine quilter, Evelyn.  Her computer guided HQ really knocked the design out of the park.  The quilt is stitched with straight, precise squares all over the design. Whoops- you can totally see my fingers in that picture.  I suppose that solves the mystery of how the magazine stays open.  hahaha. The quilt is a queen size and is very straight forward to make.  It is bold strips used to make a HUGE 24″ block.  Then the blocks are stitched together like a traditional quilt.  I thought you might like to see the quilt in a couple other colorways, so I went ahead an whipped those up for you.  (virtually, of course)     I love this quilt and now that I have it back in my hot little hands, it is going on my bed.  I have just one more image to leave with you- The back cover.  Yep, there’s my little analogous color blocked quilt right there on the back cover.  High fives for everyone! Hopefully, soon, I’ll have some in the shop for you.  Until then, check out Annie’s Publishing to get your very own copy. Tell a...

Pillow Pizzazz Book

Pillow Pizzazz Book

on Jun 26, 2012 in accessories, Blog, book, Books, sewing | 0 comments

Have you seen this fun new title from House of White Birches?  It is Pillow Pizzazz!  With the continued popularity of the Pillow Talk Swap on flickr, this book comes at great time.  12 different pillow designs by various contributing designers. I was honored to have one of my pillow designs selected for this publication.  The pillow set uses jelly roll precut fabric strips, includes piping, instructs you how to make a custom pillow insert and is a bolster shape, rather than a traditional square or rectangle.  Pretty fun, right?  The fabric isn’t quilted, so the project is really quite quick. Hopefully I will have a few copies in the ReannaLily Designs shop soon for you, but until then, please pick up or request your copy at your favorite sewing book shop. You can see more photos of the various and diverse pillow projects in the book on this gallery linked below: Pillow Pizzazz Project Gallery Tell a...
