GiveAway Time!

on Aug 3, 2009 in Army Cube, business, pattern, Seamingly Accurate, website | 61 comments

I moved from Korea to Oklahoma a little over 1 year ago. On August 1st, I went to the Oklahoma “county office of all things official” and got my business information all squared away. I have officially been in business one year as ReannaLily Designs. Big things have happened this past year, from Seamingly Accurate to a line of quilt patterns, and I’ve got a few irons in the proverbial fire for even bigger things on the horizon. I’m officially working with Art Gallery Fabrics! I’ll have pictures for you after market. For now, the projects are all top secret. Also, after years of sewing commissioned The Cube purses, I’m in the final stages of getting that pattern ready for the retail world. The Cube purse pattern made with recycled uniforms is currently AT the pattern tester’s. There’s a special twist with The Cube purse pattern and you’ll have to just check back to see what it is. AND when that baby releases, I’ll be giving away something super special along with the pattern. *stay tuned* I want to celebrate my first year with a give away. Scratch that- TWO giveaways! Each giveaway will receive a charm pack and my free-with-purchase Headband pattern. These are charm packs, of course. They are both from Benartex. The one charm pack is Victoria by Nikki Russell. The pack includes 2 squares of each of the 28 different prints. You can see them all here, at the Benartex site. The second charm pack is Fossil Fern. Are you sitting down for this- its 100 pieces! One of EACH Fossil Fern print. (Thumb not included.) To enter the giveaway here’s what you need to do:Leave a comment telling me which color is most dominant in your fabric stash- or heck, just let me know what your favorite color is. (and make sure there’s some way for me to contact you.) To be entered twice:Blog, tweet or otherwise (web-wise) mention this post. Leave a second comment with the link. To be entered a third time:Subscribe to my blog feed (by email, or bloglines or reader, or whatever you use) and leave a comment letting me know you subscribe. The Trademark

The Trademark

on Jul 16, 2009 in business, Seamingly Accurate | 1 comment

When Seamingly Accurate was picked up for production and distribution by Quiltwoman.com, I thought it’d be smart to register my trademark. So I did. That was about 10 months ago. The US Patent and Trademark Office website is not the easiest to navigate. They have all the forms available for you online to fill out… but then all the verbage on the forms is like rocket science. (Which is kinda funny, since my brother and sister-in-law both worked as rocket scientists for a while. I digress…) I went to my local notary two separate times and learned all about “office actions”. I also learned that once you apply for a registered trademark, every greedy lawyer will get your address from the public filing record and desperately snail-mail you in an efforts to help the application process. Lordy Pete. When you start the application process there’s a disclaimer that says it can take up to 18 months. I’m very proud to report that I’m bringing down the average! Wait, that doesn’t sound good…. Very soon, I hope the Seamingly Accurate website will have a cute little R-circle beside the name. It will take a little work and a little time, but I’m certain it will be worth it in the end. Again, thanks for all the continued support in making Seamingly Accurate such a great success. I love the seam guide tool and am happy you SEAM to like it also. If you haven’t seen it in action, take a look at website http://www.seaminglyaccurate.com. On a side note, I just might love love love the little registered trademark symbol, since in my mind, its like my very own itsy bitsy tiny “Reannalily” R, wrapped neatly in a circle.Have a good one! Where was I???

Where was I???

on Jun 21, 2009 in business, Seamingly Accurate | 0 comments

Boy, its been a week or so since my last post. Sorry about that. I went on a little road trip with my family up to Dayton Ohio. Its a two day drive from my place up to Dayton, but when the hubby’s work is paying for the hotel and my super great friend lives there… I might was well tag along, right?? We did all sorts of stuff there- but I won’t bore you with the details. What I will tell you is that my friend an I arranged her bookshelf. (Stick with me, it isn’t boring, its artsy-) We sorted the books by the color wheel and we even have a warm shelf and a cool shelf. I just love it. I need to do this to my own books. Oh, by the way, these are all her quilt and sewing books. Then, among other places, we went to the rockin A.W.E.S.O.M.E Fabric Shack in Waynesville Ohio. I’m guessing you already know about The Fabric Shack. It is absolutely HUGE. They’ve got a whole room of clearance fabrics. They have more fabric than I’ve ever seen. I might have left with over 7 yards of super fun great prints from all sorts of manufacturers. And the highlight- THE FABRIC SHACK carries Seamingly Accurate! It was right there behind the check out counter on the notions wall. I was hoppin’ up and down excited to see it. My friend snapped a picture and I’ll add it to this post when I can get that from her. (updated & added below!) Thank you Fabric Shack!!! Of course, Dayton has some amazing thrift stores, and I got the haul there too. I’ll have to post a whole seperate bit on that. I had plenty of time to fill up the sketch book and write out many to-do lists. I’ll be back to “workin” soon. I hope you had a great week!! Tell a...

I’m in Quilter’s Home Magazine!

on Mar 23, 2009 in business, Press, sale, Seamingly Accurate, website | 3 comments

Ya’ll, I just have to post this on both the family blog and the design blog. Its BIG hoppin-up-and-down news! I’m in Quilter’s Home Magazine (April/May 2009)! Editor, Mark Lipinski, thinks my Seamingly Accurate Seam Guide is wonderful and did a whole little write up on it, on page 83! A humongous thanks going out to the folks at Quiltwoman.com who have produced & marketed my product for the quilting industry since the beginning. They also allowed me to work with them at the Housont Quilt Market where Seamingly Accurate launched this past fall. I’ll be in the Quiltwoman.com booth at Pittsburgh’s Spring Quilt Market with them, also. (Just booked my flights & classes this past week.) Hooray for teamwork! My biggest supporter scanned a copy of her magazine and emailed it to me. I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on my very own copy. Who are we kidding, I might buy a few copies and plan out how I might wall-paper my living room with the article. It hits news stands this week! I wanted my blog fans to be able to grab a copy as soon as the post hits the web, which is why I had to wait a bit to share the news. Thanks for all your continued support & interested in ReannaLily Designs- as posted by Jen from CLOUD 9! Tell a...

The weekend

The weekend

on Feb 23, 2009 in business, pattern, quilt, quilting, Seamingly Accurate, swap | 2 comments

Boy the weekend was great- sure its already over… but I guess technically I should be savoring these last 3 hours of Sunday… On Saturday I went to a quilt show to ask vendors if they are currently carrying Seamingly Accurate. Imagine my delight when TWO vendors had it at the show. Here, let me show you my delight: Yeh, I was THAT excited; I had my 6yo snap my picture. (which is why I’m leaning down, btw.) And he actually took all the pictures in my webshots album from the show. Check out these talented ladies! It was a stressful show, since I decided to take the 3 kids with me. Gotta do, whatcha gotta do, right? Maybe next year I’ll have a booth… and no kids. That will be a totally different blog post! I was happy to hand out my flier with my new patterns included. You didn’t forget did you? I’m releasing a small handful of patterns next week, once the finishing touches are on them. And yes, I’ll probably have a big fat blog give-away to celebrate! Check back next week to enter and see what I’m giving away. And also, this weekend- as a result of the quilt show I purchased 3 fat quarters. (One per kid, of course. How wonderful that my children can be encouraged into good behavior with FABRIC. It works like that on me, too.) And this is what I turned them into- per each kiddo’s request: Two fat quarter sized, velour backed blanets:And a bunny. Yes, I’m calling it a bunny bc she’s calling it a bunny: Now that is a scary bunny! My 8yo just thinks its great… so great it is. And there you have it. This weekend I also received 3 more sets of blocks for the Spring 2009 Quilt Block Swap. Thanks ladies for sending those in! Keep ’em coming & I’ll keep sorting/posting. You can see many other blocks at the flickr group for the swap. I hope you also had a wildly exciting, surprising fun weekend filled with fabric & quilts! ~jen~ If you subscribe to both blogs, sorry about the strangely similar posts. Tell a...

What’s New?

What’s New?

on Jan 11, 2009 in business, etsy, Seamingly Accurate, swap | 2 comments

The first up new item I wanted to tell you about is this *NEW* use for the Seamingly Accurate Seam Guide. I’ve developed a way to make larger half square triangles, still without having to mark the diagonal center of all your larger squares. I’m so happy about this. Its going to make all those blocks for the swap sew in a snap. Here’s how it works: A. Mark the center line of the first square of your project, as you would traditionally. B. Start sewing 1/4″ to the left of that center line, still pretty traditional. C. Here’s the magic- Make a mental note, as to where on the seam guide the right hand corner passes. (where the BIG BLACK arrow is pointing in the picture above) D. Now, with every other large HST pair of that size, sew by lining up the right hand corner with the guide line from step C. Once the large square has moved up onto the seam guide, you can continue to sew 1/4″ from the center by making sure that the corner point is lined up with the Dotted ¼” line, next to the Needle Line. (see below) I hope that makes sense. Its a huge time saver!————————————————————————————————- Pretty exciting stuff. Also, I’ve got NEW full-length aprons over in the shop. The aprons are 100% cotton designer fabrics and have a little ribbon or contrast on the lower edge. They’ve got clean lines and, of course, are washable. Boy, could you imagine finding an apron that was NOT washable? Anyway- these can hit the washer and dryer, no problem. Here’s a peek at the newest aprons: So that’s what’s new in my corner of the world today. I hope you’re having a great Sunday! ~jen~hey- look at how my fonts when crazy in this post. nice. Tell a...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

on Dec 24, 2008 in blogging others, classes, etsy, quilt, quilting, Seamingly Accurate, website | 1 comment

Today is Christmas Eve! Merry Christmas to the blogoshpere! We are having fun on our family holiday. I’ve got the Etsy shop on “delayed delivery” and the sewing machine is taking a little break. Well… I say that, my MIL has a sewing machine or …4 … keeping me company. In fact, she’s got a full-on Gammil Long Arm machine that I’ll have to post all about when I get home. I’ve got pictures and video and holy smokes- it.is.cool! And I want to give a big thanks to all the crafter seamsters out there who have given the gift of Seamingly Accurate this holiday season. Thank you so much. I hope you love it as much as I do. I need to write a little tip on my website for using the guide with bigger half-square triangles. I figured out another little use for it and I’d love to share it- as soon as I’m back on my own computer. Also- I’m kicking off the New Year with a zipper pillow cover class on Jan 9th. I have that info on my Design website, too. Once you put in a zipper- you’ll wonder why it seemed so intimidating. Wait- this is supposed to be a festive Christmas post. Well, I do have some festive news- The quilt I carried in the car, for hand-quilting is now completely finished. I ran up to a local quilt shop (who is now going to carry Seamingly Accurate) and picked up the light blue binding. I’m so happy that its finished. In fact, I finished 3 quilts so far this week. One top on the long-arm is quilted and bound and a 3rd quilt, which my MIL quilted is also now bound. I’ll have photos of that when I get back. Merry Christmas, again- and I hope the NORAD Santa tracker gives your kids all the info they need this season! Tell a...

If you’re local to the SW Oklahoma area, I’m going to have a booth at a little craft fair this weekend. Its at our city community center from 8a-2p. Stop by if you can! I’d love to see ya. Email me and I can give you more details. Many of the items in my Etsy shop will be available at the craft fair. Oh- also, I’ve got 20 new Seamingly Accurate Seam Guides in stock and I’ll have those at the show as well. They’re also listed in my online shop over at Etsy. I’m proud to report my first 20 are already sold out, so this another “batch”. Sorry, I don’t have any pictures of the new latest and greatest. I’m working on a little project and it seems to be consuming all my extra “sew and photo” time. I’ll have a picture of something for you soon, though. Thanks for stopping by my bloggy. ~jen~ Tell a...
