Free-Motion Framework Video Trailer

Free-Motion Framework Video Trailer

on Apr 9, 2019 in Blog, Featured, FMFWQ, Press, quilting | 0 comments

In October 2018, I was honored to be included in C&T Publishing’s video series of book trailers. At the Quilt Market in Houston, TX, we shot almost an hour worth of footage for the promotion. Through the magic of editing and the genius of youtube, the video is only 7 minutes long. Hopefully, it will give you a good idea of how Free-Motion Framework can improve your quilting skills. Take a peak here: It was a blast to film, but my time slot was 3p. That is 3p after an entire day on the quilt market floor, buzzing around seeing friends and quilts. I promise I do not always look this exhausted. However, I do always talk about quilts. I asked the producer, Amy to snap a picture of me before I left the shoot. And yes, I did wave a bit of a photoshop-magic-wand on this one. Updated to add:See all the Free-Motion Framework details, workshops, projects, and samples...

Sampler Quilts Magazine

Sampler Quilts Magazine

on May 17, 2015 in Blog, Press | 0 comments

Sampler Quilts Magazine 2001 I have a copy of almost every thing where my name has been published. It is a small box, but still exciting. I was missing at least two?magazines. Sampler Quilts is one of them. The one above is the very first quilt magazine to include one of my quilts. My closest friend had a copy!!! Can you believe that? She bought the copy of Sampler Quilts when it came out and made her very first quilt from the block patterns. When I visited her, I grabbed these?pictures and will keep it in the virtual log of the articles here on the PRESS page. This was published in Fall of 2001, I think. The quilt was finished by December 2000. Phew, Throw Back Thursday #tbt on a SUNDAY! If you’ve seen my lecture, you’ll recognize this as the Lion King Quilt. It was a painful sampler to make. Every block was cut and designed individually. A couple blocks are originals and the rest are from patterns/internet. The directions to make each block are on newsprint in the back of the magazine, but the page where I’m featured actually is a quilting glossary of sorts. I don’t think I’d make blue, brown and yellow sampler quilt on-point these days, in 2015, but you never...

Australian Homespun July 2013

Hexagons Made Easy goes INTERNATIONAL! The book is already distributed internationally, but now it is getting a bit of press down under. That’s right, the magical land of Aus has reviewed Hexagons Made Easy in the Australian Homespun July 2013 issue. And because I know that whole page is hard to see, I did a “zoom in” on this article so you can take a gander at the editorial review of the...

San Antonio Magazine July 2013

on Jun 27, 2013 in Blog, Press, recycle | 2 comments

I’m a hidden gem! Who knew? Back in February, at QuiltCon, I was interviewed by a free lance writer, Joanne Cleaver. It was an interesting interview, as she asked questions that weren’t all quilt and “how old were you when you learned to sew” type questions. At QuiltCon, I did a book signing for Deploy That Fabric, which is HALF OFF right now. The article focuses on my quilt and sewing designs featuring recycled military uniforms. That interview was translated into a one page feature in San Antonio Magazine’s July 2013 issue. It will hit newsstands very very soon. My favorite part of this bit of press was that I was required to do a “photo shoot”. It was GREAT. I meet with Sarah Brooke Lyons. I had so much fun and was even invited to participate in her photo-art-project, 1005 Faces. So if you want to check out some tidbits about little ole me- look for the article JULY 2013.   Thank you so much for including me in the magazine! Thanks so much for the interview and photo....

What a crazy-good reference for all-things-made-hexcellent. That’s right a whole issue of Quiltmaker Magazine (May/June 2013) dedicated to making hexagon-based projects. Holy smokes!!! Big thanks to my friend, Leigh, who snapped this picture from her copy and emailed it to me. Hexagons Made Easy is featured on page 10. Hooray! I was really hoping it was included, since the title of the book is *sorta* on the cover of the magazine. Thank you thank you thank you, Creative Crafts Group for including the book in this...
