Ebay Quilt Alliance Auctions
Each year the Quilt Alliance hosts a challenge open to quilters all over the world. The challenge this year was “Inspired By“. You were to use the QuiltIndex.org to find inspiration for your mini quilt. The mini measures 16″ x 16″ when complete.
The Quilt Index is unbelievable, and the amount of work they have put into organizing so many great historical quilt stories needs your support.
“Quilt Alliance (the Alliance for American Quilts) documents, preserves and shares the rich history of quilts and quiltmakers.” -Quilt Alliance
After the annual contest, the Quilt Alliance organizes an Ebay Auction for all of the pieces with 100% of the proceeds going to the preservation of quilt history & documentation.
“The Alliance for American Quilts, a national nonprofit organization founded in 1993, supports and develops projects to document, preserve, and share the history of quilts and quiltmakers. The AAQ brings together groups and individuals from the creative, scholarly and business worlds of quiltmaking to advance the recognition of quilts and their makers in American culture. My piece is string and hexagon based. See the whole piece in the Ebay Auction HERE.
My piece is titled Eight Hexagons because there are 4 appliqued hexagons and another 4 hexagons hidden in the quilting design. The quilting lines are all within 1/4″ of one another. It is meticulously crafted with an assortment of fabric strips, or strings, which gives a chaotic interesting composition to this small piece.
Quilt Alliance needs YOUR help in their fundraising efforts. Bid on the many mini’s up for auction. The auction for this week’s quilts expires on Monday, Nov 24th at 9pm Eastern.
