My mom upgraded her long-arm quilting machine to an amazing Handi Quilter Avante.

The family got to go out to her house, yesterday, and check out the newest addition to the family. This machine is so smooth and light. I already love it. She’s named it Nita. “I Nita Get to Quilting” and “I Nita Wind More Bobbins.” ha. Plenty more where that comes from.

The whole family really got in on the writing, drawing and test designs on the sample piece. This quilted test piece will be turned into a dog bed, by the way. A coffee cup. A dragon. “I am awesome” in cursive… you know, the usual quilty stuff.

I’m ready to head back out there with a couple of quilt tops and knock those right out. The frame is 12′ long and the machine itself has an 18″ throat. That is the “stitchable/quiltable space” you could say – 18″ or so. It is really cool how many more free motion quilting designs you can create when you don’t have to stop and roll the quilt every 5 inches. Eye. Opening.

  1. I can’t believe how grown up your babies are now. What beautiful children.
