Book signings are the best!!! The guests (quilt shop owners and quilt industry peeps) get a ticket or a special pre-printed invite to receive a free signed book. They get to market, find the booth and time and start a small queue for the free prize. Lots of shops take the signed books – from all publishers and authors – back to their shops and usually raffle them off at some big shop event. It is a great promotional way to get the books into the hands of shop owners.
I was lucky enough to do two signings, one at the publisher’s booth- Martingale Pub and one at United Notions Distributors‘ booth.
For these signings, I actually demo of the technique featured in the book. I made the same type “steps” that a teacher would use in explaining the process in a quilt class. I made two sets and two lucky shop owners from the United Notions Book Signing will be receiving the “steps” in the mail when they return home from Quilt Market Portland. Hopefully this will help them easily have classes back at their shops. Thanks again for coming by and checking out the book!
