Emerald Quilt Challenge
The Pantone Emerald Quilt Challenge Quilt is finito. Hooray! Before QuiltCon I was telling you about stamping out the fabrics– Well, I got the quilt built and quilted. It is only 42″ square. So not only is there the online challenge, but also, the San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild issued a Pantone Emerald Challenge. WOOT! Two birds, one … um quilt. The SAMQG contest is due in August. I plan on entering this… but you never know. I might get a wild hair to make something else Emerald.
I used a simple shape-facing and machine applique technique to make the circles very quickly and get them onto the solid white background. I used only emerald fabrics from my stash + a few of the painted fabrics I made.
I was so proud to use NOT-WHITE quilting thread… of course, it was the palest emerald shade of Sulky Thread, so … um… it totally looks like white. I’ll still count it as a little victory for me, though. I quilted a real dark emerald color thread inside the darker fabrics.
The picture above has the “stamped straws” fabric in the center. Love that one.
And here’s some of the background fills for ya. As you probably guessed…. um… that is how wide my sewing machine throat is on my quilt frame. =) Tim Gunn would be so proud. I’m “Makin It Work People.”
