Wonky Log Cabin Quilted
Finishing up a small UFO. I keep thinking “Oh, I just made that, so it isn’t a UFO. It isn’t like it has sat around a while unfinished.” Ah but blog… blog… blog. I searched my blog to see when I took the workshop from Jacquie at Tallgrass Prairie. … um yeh, OVER A YEAR AGO. Time to get that quilt top finished!
I quilted it quickly on my mid arm frame. It is a Hinterberg Frame with a Juki quilting machine on it. It isn’t a longarm, but it totally gets the job done. Learning to quilt on it is very different than learning to free motion quilt on the domestic machine. I’m getting better though. The motif is just wavy lines, with some pebbles, swirls and 90degree meandering in some shapes.
I ended up choosing a shimmer silver thread for quilting. Technically it isn’t white… but it also isn’t the RED that the workshop class and Jacquie recommended. Shame. I’m just not quite that brave.
Lets talk quilt backing. Its a vintage sheet.
It is rockin some yellow, orange, avocado and grey. Does it match the front….nope. I’m not too worried about that though. The tag on the quilt was still very read-able- 50% cotton, 50% poly “new no-iron muslin”. Ha. “NEW” nice.
