Making Things

on Nov 29, 2011 in Blog, recipes | 2 comments

Y’all I have been making things, but not necessarily sewing. BUT not necessarily all Martha-crafty either…. I didn’t want the blog to get neglected in this time of making things, so I thought I’d share what I made.

First up- Angry Bird Ornaments:

I book marked these ornaments last year on the Obsessively Stitching blog. This year I totally made them. Well… my ornaments are glass, from walmart and were a total of $2.50, & don’t have cute hats… but other than that- just like the tutorial. I do have an LSU Christmas tree, so I thought about making the red birds purple. I think they’d still look like angry birds, just angry LSU birds. =)? …there’s still time….

Next up: Minecraft Creeper Shirts

Talk about the gift that keeps giving all year long…. My kids are Minecraft junkies and one wanted to give the other one a Minecraft shirt for Christmas. Um. Ok…. but here’s the thing, I cannot bring myself to pay $20 for a collection of black rectangles on a green shirt. (Jen *middle name CHEAP* Eskridge)? So using the basic methods in this freezer paper stencil tutorial, we now have a CREEPER shirt. I really thought it’d be even funnier to add the server IP address under the creeper face, but that just might be a bit too geeked out.

And lastly:? Christmas Tamales

I made up 42 spicy pork tamales. I used this fun recipe from Of course, I have to add about 1/2 c of hot sauce and a can of HOT rotel to my doubled recipe, but still delicious non-the-less. mmmmmm……… We’ll have to wait and see how many tamales make it to Christmas. My guess is not too many. I think I’ll be sneaking by the freezer to cook some for my own lunches.

And soon I’ll be sewing things again. And soon I’ll be sharing all that goodness with you. For now though- I’m off to make more stuff.

Happy Holidays!

  1. My scout troop is going to get together and make the Angry Bird Ornaments! Thanks for putting us on to it.
