Sew It All TV

Have you seen this new show, Sew It All, on PBS?  I was able to watch an episode online and I don’t think it is in the Wichita market yet.  Jacquie over at Tallgrass Prairie mentioned the show just  the other day.

Well, I have some news…. are you sitting down?  I’m going to be on the show. I fly out to Golden Colorado for taping next week and I have no idea when the show will air.

I’ve been sewing like a mad woman getting ready for market and this taping.  I had no idea so many samples are made in advance of the actual show.  I know now!  It is a really different process from the actual pattern writing though.  It was quite tricky to figure out how much to sew before you move on to the next “Oh, I see you already have these side seams sewn” sample.   REAL TV seems quite a bit different than my two little quickie youtube videos.

The super great news for you, my readers, is that with the show segment you’ll get a free link to the pattern demo’d.  I’ll be making this cute little tote bag and show you how to put the zipper in the lining.  I use the same style zipper in almost all my bag linings, so if you own any of my bag patterns (or the Deploy That Fabric book) you’ll want to tune in.

The bag I’m making is called The Sitter Tote.  It features recycled military uniforms, or you can make it with traditional cottons.  All the fabric “steps” match the main finished bag, throughout the show.  My ‘Hero’- as TV jargon calls it-  has Amy Butler fabrics + recycled Army ACU uniform pieces.

I cannot wait to tell you more about how the show goes and how the “behind the scenes” go and share the actual pdf pattern with you!  Stay tuned.

Wow! You are such a star. It is so nice that I can tell people, “I knew her when she lived in Albuquerque.” My son and daughter-in-law and 2 granddaughters live in Golden. I hope you get a little time to tour around the area. Shirley from Rio Rancho.
