Rockin Robin Finished

on Aug 4, 2011 in Blog, blogging others, RowRobin, tutorial | 1 comment

Ok, so all 5 row styles have been revealed for the Rockin Robin.  I wanted to share with you how I assembled the quilt top.  Remember, if you get sewing quickly, you’ll be entered to win prizes from a few of GREAT sponsors.

Whoever finishes their Rockin’ Robin quilt top and has a picture posted in the flickr group by Aug 22 is entered into the giveaway.  That gives you a little over 2 weeks to get this top together!!!  Really, you might even decided that these prizes are too good to pass up and start sewing this little baby on Aug 21st.  Whatever floats your boat- as long as the top is done and in the flickr group on Aug 22.  =)

Three winners chosen at random:

Prizes: Two $25 gift certificates for FQS and a Metro Market from Robert Kaufman fat quarter bundle (8) from The Fabric Shoppe
To finish the top, I actually arranged my rows NOT in number order.  I also found that when I laid them out, the top looked busy, thanks to my two background fabric choices.  I decided I needed a place for the eye to rest, so I added in dark blue strips.  The strips are cut 2″ and finish at 1 1/2″ wide.

The darker blue really helps ground the quilt.  It’s perfect for a little guy.

A BIG Thanks to all the designers that worked on the quilt-along and high-fives to everyone who has played along in the flickr group.  Y’all turned out awesome quilts!
