Nametags
I have been sewing like a crazy person all summer long, when I haven’t been sitting in the car. And, when I was in the car I was writing and in one case, giving an interview to Pat Sloan (from I-40!). Anywhoo- I’ll be able to tell you all about those sewing projects, shortly.
For now though, I took a little time for myself to make a new guild name tag. My other tags needed a bit of an update. This will make 3 total tags that say “JEN” all carried in my purse. Um… in case of a nametag emergency??? Maybe I’ll have enough one day to sew them all together and make a big JEN quilt. (Hum… that would be a pretty weird quilt, I think.) I should throw in one or two JAN’s since people call me that all the time. I digress…
So here’s what I did: I wanted to make some wonky improv pieced name tags for my mom and myself. I signed up to be on a Quilt Room Tours deal put on by the Prairie Quilt Guild and we need to have name tags for the event.
In the picture, my name tag is quilted using a straight lines, about 3/8″ apart and then finished with a satin stitch (real close zig zag, like in the Drink Coaster Tutorial) to finish the edges. Since these are name tags, they are kinda small. I had to use a 1/8″ seam allowance and sew pretty slow to make sure everything turned out. The KArEN tag, for my mom, is about 8″ x 3″. And of course, used the Word Play Quilts for guidance. {{LOVE that book!}}
