Military Monster Custom Order FINISHED
This bag turned out EXCELLENT if I do say so myself. This is the first Military Monster bag I’ve made with a flight suit. Super fun to work with, should you be considering re-purposing a flight suit.
Incidentally, if you are loving this bag and the design, it will be one of the 23 patterns in the new book- Deploy That Fabric. You’ll have to go pre-order your copy today! And of course, later this summer, I will be carrying the title in my shop as well. Subscribe to the blog to be sure you don’t miss it!
I managed to cut the uniform in such a way that I would have the original name/rank Veclro in place above the chest pockets (just as it is when it’s worn) and then have a large leg pocket at the center of the design. That gives the front of this bag 3 extra pockets, in addition to that big drop in pocket at the center.
On the back of the bag I used a a pocket from the sleeve, the knife pocket from the leg and part of the back waist. All of these added another 2 pockets to the original design.
(Love this picture!)? I’m pretty proud that I was able to use “cut to length” zipper tape for the top closure of the bag. By doing that I was able to add two zipper pulls instead of just the standard one. And, well, you know those pulls needed some ribbon, to match the bag handles.
Just wanted to show the 6 drop in pockets inside there. And those pockets are about 7″ x 7″. This bag can hold the world! I had one for myself and carried it for about a year- I even used it as my carry-on for an overseas flight. Yeh, it’s THAT big. This one will be used a diaper bag.
I like to include a zippered pocket on the inside of most my bags. Its a the secret stuff pocket that sometimes mom’s need…. since sometimes the kids like to get into the bags and look around for cheerios and juice cups.
So that’s it. 14 pockets of diaper-bag-flight-suit glory. I hope my client loves it as much as I do!!!
