Festival Crowds

There was some crummy weather in Houston during the festival half of the shows. A cold front blew through, complete with lightning, thunder, rain and wind. Probably wouldn’t have even noticed, if our room wasn’t on the 12th floor- IN the thunder cloud. But as you know, weather is NOT going to keep a quilter from shopping at the biggest event of the year.

Festival draws between 30,000 and 50,000 attendees every year. That means all of downtown fills up with crazed shoppers looking for the best fabric, the best fabric kits, tools and patterns. I was able to grab a few shots for you. (Though I did try to blur the faces where possible.)

This was the crowd of people waiting to get into the festival on Thursday morning, the first full day it was open to the general public. More guests queue’d upstairs and even more outside. Hold on to your hats, ladies and gentlemen.

The above picture was the lunch crowd on one HALF of the tradeshow cafeteria. Oh holy smokes, right? That is ALOT of ladies (and like 3 guys).

This is a picture from upstairs, of course, of PART of the first 6 rows of vendors. There were about 22 rows, total. I’m telling you- if you are a quilter, looking for a place to BLOW UP your credit card, this would be it!!!

I even picked up a few things at festival. Not as much as I had hoped, but just enough to cross a few gifts off the Christmas lists. =)
